About the Director

Ms. Hurst was born in Chicago, IL on June 22nd, 1990. Growing up as a kid, she began taking private violin lessons. Ms. Hurst attended Lake View High School and graduated in 2006. During her teen years, Ms. Hurst participated in many different groups including the Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestra. She was later invited to join the Chicago Philharmonic which she was the lead violinist for until she left. Ms. Hurst was accepted into the Chicago College of Performing Arts in 2011 and graduated with a Masters of Teacher Education (M.Ed) and a Masters in Strings in May of 2017. Starting in August of 2017, Ms. Hurst worked at the Chicago High School for the Arts. Her primary responsibilities at that school was to offer free, private tutoring for student violinists until she applied to be the Assistant Orchestra Director in 2019. She continued to work for the Chicago High School of the Arts until she moved to Colorado Springs in July of 2022. Currently, Ms. Hurst is the Orchestra Director at Mountain Ridge High School teaching 4 different groups.
